I wanted to join tonality because growing up pursuing choral music, I never say myself or my life experiences being reflected back at me — which made me believe I didn’t belong. I wanted to be a part an ensemble that continues to pave the way for what choral/classical music can be and uplift marginalized voices to know that their stories are worth telling to a larger audience.
Tonality is truly a one of a kind ensemble and has become a catalyst for what classical music is capable of enacting within ourselves and our society. I believe that this ensemble has done an incredible job of not only uplifting marginalized voices, but giving a face to these voices to authentically reflect and tell these stories that need to be told.
