Why did you join Tonality?

I joined Tonality because I believe in its mission. I’m very big on starting hard conversations so we can effect change. I believe Tonality concerts are a way to do that.

Why do you feel a group like this is important?

This is a diverse group of people with unique musical talents. If we musicians can use our musical powers for good, why shouldn’t we? Be the change you want to see in the world.

What are you looking forward to in this upcoming concert?

Last season, Tonality had the pleasure of performing a piece with the Kronos Quartet. It was a powerful piece about the Black American experience. I’ve been in few situations where everyone was so overcome with emotion that it filled the room. Together we were joyous, frustrated, distraught, angry and empowered in only 75 minutes. I couldn’t help but think, “This is why I do this.”
