Why did you join Tonality?

I'm passionate about telling a wide variety of stories through choral music. I think Tonality brings new perspectives to the choral space that have been missing.

Why do you feel a group like this is important?

I think a group like Tonality helps to bridge the gap that often exists between music lovers and choral music fans. Though some professional choirs can feel unrelatable and out of reach, Tonality welcomes in fans of every genre with a wide variety of styles as well as currently relevant subject matter.

What is a particular moment you remember from singing in a Tonality concert?

Singing "Kalief Browder" by Bard Wells in our "Call to Restore" concert was one of my most memorable moments. I had sung emotional pieces before, but never something that evoked the types of feelings that this piece did. I felt that the composer did an incredible job of connecting with what being locked in a twelve-by-seven cell might have felt like. As you can imagine, it was very emotionally uncomfortable to sing, but rewarding.
