I believed in Tonality’s mission and purpose. As someone who is passionate about equality and social justice issues, especially with criminal justice reform, I liked that Alex was willing to tackle these big issues fearlessly, and Tonality was a great outlet to speak about these issues.
I think we are leading the way for other choirs to be bolder in speaking/singing about these topics in their concerts. The conversation is growing both in and outside our field, and we are helping facilitate that.
One moment that really stuck out to me was when we sang “Lift Evry Voice” in the first season and the audience stood and sang along. It was so moving, and so many of us were in tears.
