When I began teaching, I never realized how powerful it would be for my students to see me, a chicano and 1st generation college graduate, as their professor. It seems to be one less obstacle for them to believe in themselves if they see someone like them in positions they might aspire to be in. It's the same for Tonality. We represent so much to so many and continue to do so through excellence, acceptance and joy for who we are and what we do.
Our first in person concert after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. To see peoples engaging expressions welcome us without seeing their faces was quite the experience. It was very emotional to do what we do again, especially because our message is so near and dear to all involved.
